Summary of the Client 

Since 1990, First Vehicle Services has met the fleet maintenance contract needs for Harford County, Maryland. We are proud of our partnership, maintaining 1,100 vehicles and pieces of equipment on a daily basis, including law enforcement sedans, fire and emergency response vehicles, snowplows, light-, medium- and heavy-duty vehicles and other specialized equipment.

The County was looking for a reliable, responsive provider for their fleet maintenance services. 

The Solution and Measurable Results 

The First Vehicle Services team in Harford County has consistently exceeded in all contract performance standards throughout the 30+ year partnership. We understand our technicians’ training and certifications are critical to satisfying Harford County’s needs by meeting the challenges of their location.

Leading the way in maintenance shop certification, our Harford County (MD) service center location recently earned the Gold Wrench Certification in Lean Shop Operations through First Vehicle Services. This certification signifies a few things: all technicians are ASE certified; the shop is ASE Blue Seal recognized; and the operation consistently reduces maintenance costs by targeting strategic areas, including preventive maintenance, road call reduction, technician overtime, and outside service costs.

Since 2005, Governing Magazine, a national publication that covers state and local governments, has recognized the Top 100 Performing Fleets in the nation in an annual issue. The Magazine assess operating practices and process improvements. The Harford County fleet has appeared an impressive 13 times in the Top 100.
