CINCINNATI—First Vehicle Services (FVS), a division of FirstGroup America, was awarded the 2009 Emerald Award by the Broward County Environmental Protection and Growth Management Department. This award is given to local businesses that demonstrate environmentally responsible business practices. FVS was awarded for methods of pollution prevention by a small business. The company was recognized for its attention to safety and commitment to becoming more environmentally friendly. To accomplish these goals, employees implemented new and efficient processes to safely complete their duties and appropriately dispose of hazardous and wasteful material. The awards ceremony will take place on Tuesday, April 13.
“Our policies and procedures have set us apart from other maintenance providers,” said Mike Best, general manager. “We are committed to continuing these processes and working to assist the county with their desire to promote a greener environment.”
For 16 years, FVS has been the maintenance provider for the Broward Sheriff’s Office, maintaining 3,200 vehicles for the county’s Sheriffs Office and 230 vehicles for the Fire and Rescue division.
